Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
